There are many different brands and styles of train sets for kids. They range from little, plastic toddler sets, to larger, wooden and electric sets for kids and adults. They make great birthday and Christmas gifts for boys and girls, and will keep them entertained for hours at a time. The best part is that with most train sets you can continue to add on to them and expand your collection for years to come.

One of the most well-known, popular train sets in the world is Brio trains. They were invented by a man named Ivar Bengtsson in 1884. Bengtsson was a basket- maker by trade, but decided that he wanted to invent a toy that would not only be fun for kids to play with, but would be developmentally beneficial for children as well. This idea has since expanded into BRIO, a world wide corporation, as well as the biggest wooden toys producer in the world.

The most famous BRIO invention is the interlocking wooden train sets. In 2001, over 6 million wooden track sections and almost 20 million train wheels were produced. This is partly because they are one of the sturdiest, most well made train sets available.

These train sets are made up of many different wooden blocks that have been carved into different lengths and shapes of railroad tracks. The pieces are all connected together by marking on the ends of every piece of track.

In addition to plain railroad tracks you can also buy different buildings such as: train stations, railroad crossings, water towers, train drop off stations and many more accessories. However, no railroad train set would be complete without the trains and people themselves. There are so many different colors and types of trains you can collect. Some even make noises or carry items.
